Default Nokia E71-2 NAM Gets Firmware Update

Nokia has added the new firmware for the E71-2 NAM to NSU recently, so that U.S. owners can finally get some firmware update love. The new version, v110.07.127, offers quite a few bugfixes and whatnot, which should make the E71 more stable overall.

Changes to the E71 for this firmware include Nokia Email updates, as well as a new update to Mail For Exchange and Nokia Maps, both of which are pre-installed. Be aware, NSU is being really finicky for me, demanding a nearly full battery before it will actually apply the update, which is rather annoying. Also annoying is that the E71 does NOT support UDP (User Data Preservation), which means that after your firmware update, your phone will be reverted to factory settings, which means you need to backup any data that you want to save.

With Nokia releasing more and more US 3G NAM models, having up-to-date firmware is going to be key for them to build a relationship with users, and it's nice to see the E71 NAM get update, even if it is a few weeks after the Euro version. Wonder when my N95-3 is going to get updated to V30......

You can download Nokia's NSU here.... Click here to read the full article

Default Whatchu talkin' 'bout, Guru...

I just tried to update the firmware on my E71-2 (RM-357) - the NSU told me that only the 100.07.76 was available and asked it I wanted to reinstall...

The help file told me to check the CODE on my phone (under the IMEI behind the battery) - CODE: 0569371 does not have an available upgrade.

Hmm, reverts the phone to factory settings? That's a pretty big downside. The only real benefit I want out of this update is improvement to the camera quality - can anybody who's tried it out verify that the update is really worth it (specifically for the camera update)?

Unhappy

I also have the N71-2 (0569371) and there is still no firmware update for it. I tried both via the NSU and by putting the product code into Nokia's website to check.

I can confirm that the E71-2 NAM firmware update is available through NSU because I myself updated earlier today. My product code is 0559585.

That is rather silly that there are multiple product codes for the NAM E71, and moreso that there wasn't a complete rollout. I'll see if I can't get some more information tomorrow from some friends at Nokia.
