ScanR Freeware for S60v3

AllAboutSymbian linked today to Scanr, a freeware for S60v3 devices that allows you to take a picture of a document, business card, or whiteboard, and either email it to yourself or someone else, or even send it via fax! I was skeptical at first, but the app is great.

Once the app is installed, you setup a ScanR.com account on the phone. *Note that using the
app incurs data charges.*
Once the account is setup, you can take a picture
of whatever document and then go to the ScanR app, where you select the
photo and tell it what you’d like to do with it; just upload, other email, or send fax.

Any of the above options automatically uploads a copy of the scan to the Scanr.com website, where you can view (and download) it from any web browser. By default, it will email you a link to the scan, but you can set it also to email it to you as an attachment. Perfect for me, cause I have my Gmail popped to my phone.

Takes about 5-7 minutes for the whole process to complete, which is pretty quick, in my opnion. So if you’re on the go but need to scan a document and email it or fax it or something, this is yet another great app to have at your disposal. And you can’t beat free, people.

  1. Dear Symbian Guru,
Glad to see that you are sold on the value of mobile scanning.
If you want a different flair on this high-value service, check out our own http://www.qipit.com. Great scanning, no software to install, as easy as emailing a picture of your doc to copy@qipit.com or color@qipit.com.
    Best to the team!
    Benoit.
