4GB MicroSD HC, Only An NSU Session Away?

Sandisk today announced the 4GB MicroSD HC, doubling the current capacity of the popular MicroSD card. The sad news, though, is that the "HC" (high capacity) moniker means it’s not currently compatible with most phones on the market.
But wait, there’s more. In AllAboutSymbian’s report on this, they state that engineering kits are going out, and that "mobile phone makers will need to upgrade the firmware in their handsets so that memory slots can support the new card."
Anyone else read that to say that HC support is only a firmware update away?
