I’m sure every has Google Maps Mobile on their phones. If not, you should, you can download it here. If you do, then you’ve wondered if it supports GPS (it doesn’t, yet). It should. With phones like the N95 coming with GPS built-in, and surely more phones in the future, it’s a big question as to whether we’ll all be stuck paying huge fees for apps like Wayfinder and TomTom, or if there’ll ever be a freeware app.
Well, good news, there’s 3 freeware java apps for use with GPS: Nav4All, MGMaps, and newcomer amAze. (Surely there’s more, but these are the most popular ones). I’ve installed all three on my unbranded Nokia E62 and connected to my Nokia LD-1W BT GPS Receiver. Saturday, I will be posting an exhaustive review (including plenty of screenshots) comparing the three apps, including everything from memory usage to ease of use, and on. Be sure to check back. In the meantime, Tommi has done a little writeup on amAze, the newest contender.
