Nokia 3GSM Recap

Well 3GSM is upon us, and your faithful Guru was up at 4:20AM to catch the end of the Webcast and jot all this down in one easy place, with handy links. Here’s a recap, though, all in one post so you can digest/scour it easily (Firefox tabs, at your ready):

TONS of press-quality photos available here.

The E65, E61i, E90, N77, and 6110 Navigator were announced, officially.

YouTube will *finally* be available on Nokia’s S60 phones, and en masse, apparently.

**Edit** Also, Opera has announced that they will be bringing their Opera 9 app to all mobile platforms, retaining its support for Widgets, Java and AJAX.

The freakin Smart2Go announcement from last Thursday, which said the stuff would be available on the 10th, then changed to the 12th, still isn’t available. They’ve got a few hours, still, though.

There were a few other, non-Symbian Nokia announcements, like the 3110, CK-15W, and a host of partnerships.

**Day 2 Update**

First off, there was TONS of stuff that I didn’t post on. Some I didn’t really think was pertinent to the site, others, well, I have to have a life, too. But here goes:

Sandisk announces their 4GB MicroSD HC

TI gets 720p out of a mobile phone

Phil uploads a video of S60v3 FP2 (and makes me feel better about my blurry N75 pics)

LG announces their KS10 S60v3 FP1 slider.

  1. Possibly the biggest Symbian news is the MOTORIZR Z8, the first truly commodity UIQ phone, it’s just what UIQ needs if it’s to ship on large numbers of phones.

It’s a first in a load of ways, first UIQ 3.1 phone, first UIQ phone without a touchscreen, first UIQ phone from Sendo :-)

  2. Jim,

You’re right, and admittedly, I left that one out cause I view this site as more Symbian S60v3 than all-out Symbian.

However, I would like to get my hands on a UIQ device, just so that I could play with it for a while. I wonder how cheap I could get a P910 for…..

    (plus I hate motorolas)
