First New Ngage Accessory - BT Controller?
I put this in the Rumors category just cause, but here goes: James @ The Creative Life Blog has a fantastic video of System Rush on his TV, courtesy of the N95. The kicker is that he’s controlling it from the SU-8W BT Keyboard wirelessly from across the room! Watching the video got me to thinking (and then another commenter had the same thoughts):
WHAT IF NOKIA PRODUCED AND LAUNCHED A BT CONTROLLER IN CONJUNCTION WITH THEIR NEW NGAGE PLATFORM?
It’s easy to think of, as Kyocera has already done it:
Here’s my thoughts:
1. BT 2.0
2. Built-in universal (mostly) cradle for your phone
3. Retail for ~$20
This is what it might look like:
Not only would this bring in an extra $20 per unit, but it would also, in my opinion, spur more people to buy games. One of the things that the original Ngage and Ngage QD had right was the keypad layout. It was optimized for gaming, making it easy to get into your games. If Nokia wants to attract people who don’t already own an S60 device, they’re going to have to make it enjoyable, and cheap.
I could see this accessory being ~$20-25 USD, and there should be at least one device that ships with it. Or an Ngage-Edition NXX that has it packaged in. September’s not too far away, we’ll see what happens.
