Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo Gives Up Bonus
Sorry for the corner paper-like headline, but I personally think this is huge news. Stefan found the info, and I want to emphasize it as well. In a time where it’s not abnormal for a company to lay off hundreds of workers, and then pay CEO’s HUGE enormous disgusting amounts of money. Or for poor-performing companies to still pay out big time.
Thus, when the CEO of Nokia took the cries of current employees to heart on his internal blog and announced that since they weren’t getting bonuses, neither was he, it says alot about his character. It also shows that he’s devoted to the company and to the employees.
I’ve gone on the record pointing Olli-Pekka out in what seemed to be a direct hit, but I want it to be known that I like the guy. He even looks friendly in his press pictures. Personally, I’d love for the opportunity to sit in a room with him for an hour and just pick his brain. I’d bet he’s a fascinating person to talk to.
