Trouble In Paradise

Well, we have our first problem with the N75. Up till last night, I had zero problems with the firmware. I hadn’t had a single random restart, nor had I gotten any out of memory errors. I had installed over 25 3rd-party apps, everything from ShoZu to Smart2Go to 5-6 java games. I’ve made phone calls, taken pics, etc.
Last night, after attempting to install a java game (and getting the same problem I’d had before with java apps, where it would let you select the memory location and then simply exit the installation) I was unable to make/receive phone calls. The phone works fine other than that, but an attempt to do any sort of phone call would power cycle the phone.
Here’s my steps, in order, leading up to now:
1. with the phone on, popped the battery out and let it set for a minute, then reassembled.
2. backup the phone memory to the memory card, pull the memory card out, and hard reset the phone. Then I restored the backup. There were a few apps that would not install from the memory card after this, and I noticed that apps that I had installed to the phone memory, even after "restoring" it, weren’t there.
3. So I formatted the card IN the phone (which seemed to work fine), then took the card out, and hard reset the phone again.
I still have nothing to go on. I’ve established that something IS wrong with the card (Its a 512MB Patriot) as I cannot format it in a PC. However, the phone continues to malfunction even with the card not in it.
I will hopefully be getting my phone unbranded on Monday, and hopefully this will solve whatever problem I’m having. Any suggestions before then are greatly appreciated. In the meantime, I’ll probably have to use my 6131. Boo.

Why are you not able to format it on the computer? I mean that is strange, try to format it using a card reader.
Since i am not aware of branded limitations, maybe it may have something to do with that?
Also try to uninstall everything from the install manager ;if anything is left now
Thanks for the response. I (thought) was able to format the card IN the phone, I got the confirmation and the resulting free space was correct. However, when I attempted to put the card in a reader on my computer and format it, I got an error. Weird.
I’ve hard reset the phone, so there is nothing in the install manager. I’ve also found that I can access the internet with no problems, and it happens even with a different SIM card.
I’m curious, has this changed your opinion on the N75? Do you think we should steer clear from this phone or are you optomistic that this will work itself out?
@Tom L
I would not say that we should come to that opinion so early. This is a new firmware, problems should be expected.
@Ricky
Do you mean that after formatting the card on the computer, after putting it in the phone you got an error message? As that is normal and expected. After formatting the card on the pc, you have to format it on the phone again LOL. I noe it is of no use, but in such cases, something funny works most of the time.
But if you are able to connect to the internet, then it surely seems to be a problem with the phone
Play around with the settings and call barring, as it is you cant use the phone for now, so trying out things would be cool.
@Tom - I don’t think this changes my opinion for 2 reasons: 1. I know for a fact that there is a newer branded firmware available. I can’t get it, cause NSU doesn’t have it loaded yet, but Bostonirishguy from Howardforums contacted the seller of the one that’s on there now and confirmed a newer branded firmware, dated in February. So I’m confident this is something that can be fixed.
2. I’ve used the phone without a hitch for almost a week. I recently installed a game, some apps, and some themes. There’s a very good chance that one of those did it.
As for the memory card, I have tried every possible solution, and I was actually able to successfully format it in a different computer. However, since the phone STILL has the same issue, without the memory card and after a hard reset, I’m convinced that it’s something on the phone that messed with the firmware files or whatever. I have contacted a friend at Nokia and will be getting the phone unbranded and updated this week, and will report fully the differences in the firmware when I receive it back.
Does anyone know how to get around the 600kb limitation on using music as a ringtone? It’s really annoying and I can’t seem to compress or trim my mp3’s sufficiently to get it to this small file size-it’s really annoying and the one thing I don’t like about this phone.
