Nokia + Dell = Near Retail Distribution

I got information today from a very well-informed individual that Nokia and Dell have signed an agreement today to begin offering Unbranded, Unlocked handsets, tablets, and accessories through Dell’s distribution channels! The official announcement won’t be for a few weeks, but it’s been signed.
This brings a few questions, though. Why wouldn’t Nokia just beef up their own website instead of getting someone else to do it? Will this lead to more Nokias being offered unbranded in the States, and quicker? What happens if you need a warranty replacement?
Well, the first question is obviously because Dell is MUCH better at distribution than Nokia, and has contracts with large companies across the country. Through Dell, Nokia has access to companies such as Ford, Time Warner Cable, and other US companies that would be able to place massive orders for devices, specifically Nokia’s hurting E-series line.
The rest are yet to be seen. Hopefully, Dell will facilitate the warranty replacements, sending out a new one along with a label for you to send yours back. MUCH better than the current Nokia US Warranty service.

This could be GREAT news.
This could be very interesting news in light of recent rumors of a Dell smarpthone. Very intersting.
I was excited, as well. Keep in mind, however, that this will NOT be Dell-branded Nokia handsets. Dell is simply acting as the distributor. It’ll still be beautifully unbranded Nokia handsets.
If this makes getting unlocked Nokias easier in the US, then by all means I’m for it!
tigerdirect.com works ok and all, but competition in price is a good thing…and if it’s officially with Nokia then maybe quicker releases, etc?
