S60v3 and FP1 Startup Comparison

I’d heard that the N95, running Feature Pack 1, was alot quicker than the N73, which doesn’t have the feature pack, so I set them both side by side and hit the power buttons at the same time. I was astonished at how much quicker the N95 really is.

This is somewhat unfair, the N95 uses a processor 50% faster than the N73, and probably has wider memory bandwidth as well.

If you still have that n93 around, i think it has the same speed processor, try that.

Yeah I was going to ask that…
How much is FP1 and how much is the 50% faster CPU?

Settle down, guys! I was in no way trying to say that the N73 sucks. I only wanted to point out that S60 is getting faster through the different models. Unfortunately, those are the only 2 that I have available to me.

The N73 is inferior to the N95 in hardware and design, of course it will be slower.

I’m not implying you think it sucks (the n73). I’m just saying that to verify claim that FP1 is much faster needs hardware that is roughly similar.

Slightly off topic, but what theme do you have running on the N73 in the video?

zr took the words right out my mouth, this video proves nothing.

the processor inside the n95 is much faster than that in the n73.

That’s the front of Vista Ultimate.

I found the theme used on the N73 and a better version of it as well. http://symbian.mobilethemes.com/downloads/info/20790.jsp

I compard my N80 IE v4.07.07.0.7 and it gets to stadby 4 secs before N73, a bit faster… Again, not a fair test, N95´s processor is way quicker

I tested my N73 in real time with the video, pressing the button at the same time – loaded up about 1 second slower than the N95 – all this video proves is that depending on what you actually have on the phone, and what programmes start up initially, the phone boot times will be affected.
