Nokia 5500 as a Lightsaber
Perhaps one of the most under-covered S60 device on the planet (I said perhaps. Please don’t argue as to which is actually, that’s not the point), the Nokia 5500, has a motion-sensor built-in. Most people don’t know about this, and I wish that Nokia would put it into more devices. Hoever, this recent quote has me thinking it will be.
So anyways, what’s this all about? Well, someone was able to write a simple Python app that allowed the 5500 to utilize the motion-sensor and act as a lightsaber (with sounds, but minus the light beam, obviously). The guy looks like a complete idiot waving it around, but it’s still freakin cool.
Now, I don’t think this is going to get into gaming, honestly, as you still need to be able to see the screen when waving it around frantically, but it’s still cool, nonetheless. However, I could EASILY see something like THIS:
