Global Race for E90 (and N95, N93, N93i…)

The support pages for the Nokia E90 have been up for a while, and it’s widely available over at Fonegrabber.com (which is run by my friend Mark Guim, who also maintains The Nokia Blog). If you were following the coverage pre-launch over at My-Symbian.com or AllAboutSymbian.com, you know that there’s a KILLER racing game for the E90 called Global Race.

You can view a video of the game after the break, as well as some screenshots.

I have it successfully running on my N95, and have heard reports that
it runs fine on the N93 and N93i (as they all have the 3D accelerator.
I was able to install it on my N75, but it wouldn’t run, there was a
noticable lag.

Also, you can sign up for an account at the Global Race website, and
even download a few free tracks! There is some sort of credit system,
and when you setup a new account, you’re given 100 credits to start
with. I have no clue what to do with these credits. If you find out how
to use them on something, please let me know.

The website states that shortly after the E90, there will be versions for other S60v3 devices, and possible, some S60v2 devices, as well (though I’m sure the graphics and gameplay will have to be minimized slightly). There’s also a Retro version that I’m not sure what to do with, either.

All in all, I’m a fan. It’s a fun game with speed boosters and drag "Stop" signs, so there’s more to it than just steering your car. However, at this point, I would say that K-Rally or Need For Speed offer a richer user experience. I think, though, that as we get closer to the Ngage launch in September(ish), that there will be more of this user-immersion-type setups.

If Ngage is anything like Xbox Live, I’m a huge fan already.

  2. How did you get it installed on your N95? - I can’t seem to find the installer on the Global Race web site, even when registered.

  3. I found it here: http://europe.nokia.com/A4397273

The WorldMate program is also pretty cool and works fine on the N95
