Mum’s The Word on MicroSDHC and Nokia?

I remember a while back, when MicroSDHC was announced, we all wondered when Nokia would support it in their devices. After all, it’s only a firmware update to be compatible, the reading hardware is the same. Supporting these cards means that the space limit on S60 devices doubles from 2GB to 4GB, and even on to 8GB in the near future, when these cards start hitting the market.
So fast-forward through a few firmware updates, and now we have reports of the 4GB MicroSDHC working just fine on the N95 and other new phones, as well as this pic (Via: SymbianWorld) of the 8GB card (due out later this year) working on the N95.
I have to wonder WHY Nokia hasn’t said anything? A Press Release maybe, saying, "We’re very proud of our Multimedia Computer line of devices, and we’re even more proud to announce that via new firmware updates, the following devices will be compatible with the latest in device expansion, the MicroSDHC cards, increasing possible storage to 4GB and 8GB, respectively."
I mean, if nothing else, compete with the iPhone. Given the choice of a mini HDD and solid-state memory, I think we’d all chose the latter in a heartbeat, for numerous reasons. So what’s the deal, Nokia? Aren’t you proud of yourselves? You listened to consumers and bloggers. That’s normally a good thing. It’s ok to brag a little. Go ahead…

The iPhone uses Flash memory as well, no HDD
But you can’t exchange memorycards like on the N95
(and with the size of MicroSDHC cards you could easily care lots of GB with you).
I wonder with which firmware was this 8GB microSDHC tried. Because Nokia might have, with the last v12 firmware, or will, with prospective firmwares, limit the usage of microSDHCs to a certain capacity like 4GB. If the word that Nokia is going to release 8GB N95, then in order to compel the customers to buy it, they may limit the capacity. I hope Nokia will never do this so that one day we would be able to use the highest 32GB microSDHCs!
Theoretically they could do it, because they have never stated that the N95 can use more than 2GB (even though we KNOW that it can use at least 4GB).
But by not officially stating it can use more than 2GB they can’t be sued over removing support for larger cards, as it’s has never (officially) been there.
But, I hope they will never do such a thing - also, that fact that they ADDED SDHC support to the N800 in the latest firmware talks agains them trying to limit older devices.
