New Mobile Site - Symbian S60v3 Apps Directory
I’m very pleased to announce some big upgrades to the m.Symbian-Guru.com website!
The first thing you’ll notice is a fun splash screen with the S-G logo. Once you hit the main menu, you’ll see there’s some new stuff. The first is the Driving With The Guru videos have been mobilized by my friends at Blueapple.mobi, which I wrote about previously. This allows you to stream, preview, or download the videos on ANY mobile device, in 3gp format. Killer, huh? You can also get to the Blueapple.mobi home site to look up any other internet videos you might want. They really have a killer product, I’m excited to be working with them, and look forward to new enhancements to this along the way.
There’s also a new S-G Downloads page. This contains my ringtone, theme, and OPML file from the sidebar. Cool, huh? Right to your phone. Which leads to the next and BIGGEST announcement……
Symbian S60v3 Apps Directory. I
decided to put this part together because I noticed there’s a severe
lack of ways to download applications directly to your device, and an
even bigger lack of application directories that are easy to use on
your device. Thus, you have M.symbian-guru.com’s S60v3 Application Directory.
It’s separated into three sections, Utilities, Games, and General
Applications. Keeping things simple is key. Within each section is a
quick description of the application, followed by the convenient direct
download link. Most of them are in .sis format, but a few are in .zip
format, which means you’ll need the free zip application installed on
your mobile device.
Please note that these are the direct download links provided by the
developer. That way, mobile application developers can still count the
times that the application file has been downloaded. It’s currently
limited to signed freeware only. If you have a mobile application that
you think should be in here, please use the provided form, I’ll make
sure that it’s added quickly. Please also leave your feedback regarding
the mobile site.
A big thanks also to David at Winksite,
he’s helped me get the site where it is, and we’ve got some incredible
things coming along soon, as well, so be sure to check back often.
There’s also an announcements section, so you can check there to see if
I’ve added any apps recently. Some of the new features will include
richer app pages (with a graphic and possibly link to the developer’s
page) and other fun stuff.
