Problems with New N95 Firmware

I’ve gotten a few emails recently from N95 users who are experiencing issues with the new N95 firmware, specifically product code 0548763. After the update, the LCD moves the image around, the buttons are non-responsive, and it locks up and powers down without notice.
You can view a video of the problems on YouTube here. Hard reset, reinstalling the firmware, and soft reset, none of these are fixing the problem. It appears as though, if this happens to you, you must contact Nokia directly.
I believe that’s the US product code. You can look on the label underneath the battery on your N95 to see what product code you have. If you have 0548763, I would suggest you hold out on updating the firmware for the time being, until this can be addressed/fixed.

Product code 0546659 is also a little sticky. Bet it can be fixed with another firmware update…
I found that taking Shozu off really improved the stability of the device, haven’t had a reset since.
What will Nokia do once conatacted?
Hi, Just change your product code to 0536062 EURO-1, It has the same language pack as the US version and not the problems! Plus updates to EURO-1 firmware are available sooner!!;-)
The problems are definitely hit and miss. The keypress bug occurs occasionally for me(perhaps once every 20-30 presses), but I don’t seem to have the other issues. Other people are reporting more. Anyway, v12 is a lot faster, but if you are happy with v11 and want to play it safe, wait for v13.
Too late, already updated it and hate it. The keypress issue and 90 second screen saver suck. Contact Nokia?? They wont do anything. Only heavyweights like yourself would probably get them working on a fix for these and other issues.
For the record - I have product code 0536062 and I have the bugs mentioned.
tell please when will be available version 13 for n95 cauz I’m not happy with version 12.
Thanks sooo much
I’m sure that everyone does this already but a hard reset after a FW update is something that is recommended. It may not solve all of these issues but it’s good to make this a habit.
Okay, the problem is the the installed applications on your mem card. The system tried to reinstall them and they changed things that make some of them not install or work anymore.
I took me quite a while to get my phone right. An hour or two, by browsing the data folders in the phone mem, dragging and dropping all the files and seeing what they were and if they were from an old application. If they were, I deleted them. I then reinstalled all the application, reset my setting, my bookmarks, contacts and everything else it hosed and all is fine.
If you need to do this, it will be easier uninstall all your apps first, then do a hard reset, then flash, with a blank mem card, IMO.
If must now repair the damage, be very careful. You must connect with the PC suite to see the files. It was either usb or BT, only one showed what you needed to see. You do not, I repeat, DO NOT need a utility like SysExplorer-s60v3.SIS, which BTW does work on the new firmware
I tried to explain this to Nokia today about how they were going to have a bunch of unhappy customers and it went in one ear and out the other. “We have a disclaimer”, they told me. My response was that if they “just either repairer it or added the necessary steps to avoid these issues it would be better” was completely ignored. They are so nice in tech support, but I have them them to be pretty useless too. They actually thought that you could stream audio to your phone with simplecenter. They were actually playing their own media file on the phone!
my n95 was code 0548364 after a code change to euro and finding the v30 firmware in nokia updater i thought i was onto a winner. The update went through to 5% and locked the phone out. The phone is now bricked, turns onto a screen with the nokia logo no backlight and is completely unusable. Be VERY careful when trying to update using a different code, i would not recommend it at all for my experience.
