This is so hot I’m blogging it from my n95, you know, the one with only 2gb of storage, courtesy of my microsd. The snoops over at Just Another Mobile Phone Blog have found an xml file at Nokia.com that references a BLACK n95, with an 8gb hard drive!
The only thing I have to say is I hope they boosted the battery while they were in there!

Update: Maximus over at Just Another Mobile Phone Blog, who broke the first news, now has a live pic of the handset, pictured above. Hard to photoshop that good, wouldn’t you say? I’m impressed, personally, but I don’t like the silver keys. Make the whole dang thing black, if you ask me. With red backlights. Wait, I already said that.
Just when I was thinking of getting an E90! I might just have to wait and see if this is true.

I would guess that this would use the new 8GB MicroSD Cards that Sandisk are due to launch later this year. I wonder if that is why Nokia have kept quiet about N95′s being microSDHC compliant – so that they can launch this little beauty?
Some guy on mobile-review.com forum claims that this is false, i.e. that it will not be called N95 but something else (although the profile says so). The Czech site apparently also says that the 8GB built in would replace the MicroSD slot, which would be a pity.
The coolest scenario (dream on): A2DP headset in the box, 8GB inside and MicroSD slot retained, US frequenzies AND price reduction to compete with the iPhone.. lol.. yeah, I know, dream on x gazillion.
I’m already rocking with a 4GB Micro SDHC card in my N95, so this seems like a relatively straightforward move since there are 8GB micro SDHC cards in the works already. Though, to tell you the truth, I’m nowhere near filling up the 4GB card yet. :)

Neil – That’s an interesting point of view. It wouldn’t be entirely out of the question if they just shipped the “Music Edition” with an 8GB MicroSD card, just like the Music Edition N73 shipped with a 2 gigger. And flash memory, as far as I can tell, is MUCH better for a mobile device than a HDD is.
Viipottaja – It definitely makes sense that the HDD would replace the microSD, if that’s how it is. I’ve also heard rumors of an N97 to be launched in August (different from a US 3G N95)

For me it sounds and looks more like N95ME, the black version equipped with 8GB microSDHC card!!!

Ricky, so what have you heard about the N97, specs wise? E.g. is it photo/video, music oriented? Or a do it all a-la N95?
I don’t really like this version. I did a photoshop myself, which I find a lot more attracting. Anyways, it’s weird that they still do these Music Edition-phones – it’s simply just a facia swap, firmware update and a bit more flash memory (like in N73 -> N73 ME). To me, it’s a bit like selling sand i Saraha. Anyways, it’ll be interesting to see if it’s going to be called N95 8GB like N91 8GB, or if it’s a new product just using this name to confuse people.

- it has 8gb hitachi flash drive, (but there is not SD slot anymore)
- little bit bigger screen, thinner from sides and plastic protector on screen to avoid straight hit to lcd screen
- top keys are re-arrenged,
- at back side photo slide (on-off switch) is removed,
- BATTERY LIFE IMPROVED!! (working on with 3g and GPS functions)

Cause my N95 can do all that, PLUS sync with iTunes for music, podcasts, videos, and audiobooks, AND has a full service browser. You’re a troll.

Why would Nokia remove the camera lens slider? Where’d you get your “information” from? An 8GB flash drive, but no removable media? I sure hope that’s not true. How about US HSDPA frequency?

As for the “smartphone”, I haven’t seen a single smartphone do that. I’ve seen a FEATURE phone do all that you say. But not a smartphone. So I’m not sure what you’re talking about.
And frankly, I don’t care how many stood in line for a phone, or lust over it, or develop for it, or what. If it doesn’t do what I want it to, then it’s not the phone for me. And the iPhone doesn’t do anything I want, other than browse the internet. The Nokia 6030 does that. And it’s free.
youch…I’ve already got an E90 and that black N95 is making me weak in the knees…screw the RAM…If they come to their senses and release a 1500mah battery I think I just found my new back up. =)

This is yeah, of course, a good point about Apple’s marketing and sex appeal amongst the general (US at least) public, but can you imagine if Nokia only brought out, say, one high-end and one low-end device every year? It’d be much more of an event, surely.
With all these beautiful numbers, what I’m really waiting for is the first company to invent a pill that makes my right cheek stop producing oil that gets all over the big, gorgeous screen. Or maybe just a phone with window-wipers.
I’m not sure if the photo is real or not (looks a bit fake) but I’ve just heard from a contact at NOKIA, that a new version of the N95 is due out in sept/oct. I don’t have any specs. but it will feature the new music player with bookmark support and separation of podcasts that Darla Mack wrote about some weeks ago.
The good news is that the firmware will also be available for the current N95 phones, so it seems to indicate that the new phone is technically the same, but maybe with an 8GB card included and a new design – or it could fit the description by n-psycho above.

Uh- no. Apple sold about 200k units between Apple and AT&T stores opening day. From open of business Friday to close of business Sunday, Apple MIGHT have sold 500k units. They might have shipped 3 million units, but they sold FAR less than that. Those who stood in line would have done themselves a favor by showing up an hour later to casually stroll into the store and pick one up. It was like buying a generator in December of 1999 all over again.
Oh- see, I forgot again. It’s all about the experience, right?
So anyway- as many as a million did not stand in line on June 29th. As many as 300 people stood in line at some of the Apple stores. That’s about it.

You have no idea why iPhone was hyped so much, do you? You have no idea, that the ‘MARKETING’ not the actual technology, that allowed Jobs to go after the senseless public, who can’t distinguish between a ‘good’ phone and a phone that looks good. You see Steve Jobs was targeting people like you, who would be easily swayed by over-hyped information regarding iPhone’s ‘supposed’ technological advance, that you would repeat them on various websites as if they were true. And in turn, you have become part of Jobs’ personal marketing machine. Congratulation.
Why would I want a phone that can’t take even rudimentary video, and must sign up with Apple for anything I might want over the internet? That I have to ‘SEND’ back to Apple for change of battery after 200th charge? What, that about 1~2 years of usage? And I have to ‘PAY’ to have the battery changed, not just the cost of the battery itself? Are you kidding me? All that for the supposed ‘EXPERIENCE’ of iPhone?
If N95 was marketed by Jobs, there wouldn’t be just long line up at the Nokia store. It would’ve caused war and strife among nations, and End of Day might have been predicted. Buy one. Use it. Compare with your phantom iPhone.
Hi first recieved a email from http://www.mobile-review.com about the N95 Black Version an it looks as though Nokias done what the did with the N73 i had,Ebay was selling the Black Fascias before the N73Music Edition came out an now Nokias realised they have let alot of it customers down putting such a weak battery life on such an expensive mobile an must have been reading peoples comments so thats why the N95 in Black will made available soon,its got 8gb of memory an i am really glad the Black version will be released as Nokias got to stop doing Silver Version,i have just a Black fascia set of Ebay but hope we can buy the full fascia set from Nokia soon,Tuesday another one from http://www.mobile-review.com of the Photos now i want it as quick as i can
