Voice Of S60 - Roundtable from Chicago

Podcastlarge_13
After a short hiatus, the Voice of S60 podcast is back in action with a roundtable featuring three of your favorite bloggers; Darla Mack, Stefan Constantinescu (of IntoMobile) and yours truly, Symbian-Guru.  We spend a little time with Phil Schwarzmann discussing everything from Evening with S60, the state of the S60 blogosphere, competition between
S60 blogs, how to handle leaked information, alternative mobile phone
sales channels, and selling S60 in the United States.

Someone also threw out the i-Word in there somewhere, as well, but I won’t tell who. You’ll have to listen. You can download the music files here (MP3) or here (AAC) or you can subscribe in your Podcatcher of choice with this fun little link.

Enjoy, and keep an ear out for more from Phil soon!

  1. Overall, a very good broadcast - but the GSM radio interference was annoying!

In reference to “being the first to break S60 news” - I find little, if any, value in it.

I acknowledge there needs to be a sense of reward for the effort made in writing blog posts, and inherently the “braggability” of posting some secret before anyone else feeds that need. But you are not adding any value by simply posting something first, from your reader’s perspective.

What I value most in any technology blog is real-world information that I can reproduce myself and then provide feedback to the source ( comment on ).

So yeah, maybe you post the URL to the latest version of S60 PC Suite before anyone else, that’s cool - but I find far greater reward in reading YOUR results from its use. Write 300 of observations from using the newest version of PC Suite, or that new firmware upgrade.

This is an excellent blog, I enjoy reading/listening/watching very much.

  2. Todd,

I very much appreciate the comment. One thing that I’ve (hopefully) started doing more of is real-world usage and reviews and other things that users can actually take with them.

News is great and I think is essential, but I agree that it shouldn’t be the whole of the content.

Thanks again for the commentary. This site exists for the readers, so any feedback is tremendously appreciated.

  3. Interesting interview - can’t the three of you get together (via skype) to produce your own podcast from time to time? - if you broadened the scope to include all smartphones (yes, including the unmentionable one!), you’d have a huge audience, I’m sure of it. Kind of like a mobile phone focused TWiT if you like.

  4. I listened to the podcast yesterday and I enjoyed it (minus the GSM interference, of course). I agree with the previous comment that maybe the 3 of you can have your own podcast in the future.

    Keep up the good work!

  5. The people have spoken, what should we do Ricky and Darla?

    Podcast?

  6. I’m down.
