Don’t Ship UPS - Here’s What Brown Did For Me

I realize this has little to do with Symbian, but I haven’t setup Rickycadden.com (though I own it) yet so you get to read this here. I ordered the Nokia DT-22 tripod Tuesday of last week from CompassGSM on Ebay (who have been nothing but responsive and great. Highly suggest them). Using UPS, they shipped it out with an estimated delivery on Thursday. Great. The package got all the way from Pennsylvania to Fort Worth, TX (which is where my shipping address is) without a scratch. However, somehow, cruising around town, it got damaged and "deemed undeliverable." Nice. You can fly a package all over the country but you can’t drive it a few blocks?
You can read the rest of the horror below…
To make things worse, I was given zero communication about this from
UPS (even though they had my cell number and email address for
updates). They said that they would notify the sender the next day and
work with them on the claim. First off, if you know it’s jacked, why
not notify them IMMEDIATELY so that they can IMMEDIATELY send out a
replacement (which CompassGSM did, thank you guys)? Second, why
wouldn’t you notify the recipient, as well? I arguably am more
concerned with receiving the shipment than the sender.
So CompassGSM packaged up a replacement quickly (after I emailed them
to let them know that lazy UPS would be calling them the next day) and
had it ready to go out. Awesome service. Well now it’s been delayed for
a day, and no one at UPS can tell me why. This isn’t an international
shipment, guys. Un-freaking-believable.
To UPS - for future reference, if you jack up a shipment, you don’t
send the replacement via ground. You overnight that crap. I don’t care
what it costs you, you screwed up, you should fix it beyond the
customer’s expectations. That’s called customer service. And you should
ALWAYS ALWAYS notify both parties AS SOON AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE. If you
can update a website, you can call. Seriously, folks.
So, to my dear readers, thus explains why there hasn’t been another
Driving with the Guru video. I had one planned for Thursday, but am now
pushing it back, and now you also know "what’s in my glovebox." Thanks, that’s what "brown" did for me.

Ricky,
I hate UPS too. I’m in transportation industry and get a 75% discount on FedEx which i use from time to time and it’s great. UPS completely blows people within their own industry so why would they care about their bread and butter??? Every time I get something via UPS the a..holes leave a note on the door upon the first delivery attempt and mark it as Final Notice. I’ve called SO MANY TIMES to their customers service that it’s not even funny. A few times I took time off from work to be early at home to get the package. The jerks in “chocolate uniforms” did not ring the door bell and just left a “Final Attempt” notice. That sent me through the roof. I called UPS, raised a stink and asked for a call from the manager. I told them the whole story and said that I DEMAND to have the package delivered the same day. They had to contact the driver who was VERY UNHAPPY that he had to come back…poo poo…It made ME very happy though.
UPS sucks… I’ve seen packages arrive in town and then sit around and do nothing for days. The best times are when they sit around for a day or two in town, then go some place else.
The thing about UPS is, they don’t consider the receiver the owner of the package. The owner is the shipper, and the shipper is their client. So screw the receiver seems to be there attitude.
Thats why I use FedEx, DHL, or USPS… If I get the option to choose… If I have to use UPS, its overnight … I want them to be touching that package as little as possible.
I too hate these brown f’ers. Their communications skills suck. My package has been sitting in their damn station 2 miles from my house and it is taking them two damn days to deliver the thing. And on the delivery day they make it the last stop on their route…wtf? To them I say go blow a goat which Im sure is what they are doing that has caused such a delay in delivery.
