We all remember the news the other day, correct? About the US 3G N95 having a bigger battery, more RAM, and coming in black? Good, then you also remember that they redesigned the back of it to fit this montrous battery, and some eagle-eyed readers pointed out that it looked like they’d improved on the music buttons, as well. But there were some naysayers. "It’s fake", they said. Harumph.
My dear readers, Darla Mack and I present to you the first live pics of the US 3G N95. The first is of this redesigned backplate and camera area. You can see that they’ve removed the manual shutter and it looks like they actually recessed the camera,
instead of just flattening it to the back of the device.
The second picture shows these lifted media keys. Personally, I think they look better, but functionally, I didn’t have any issues with the current ones. Oh, well, never hurts to improve things a little, right? Notice also that it is still named simply N95, not N95i or anything like that. They also left the secondary camera which I’m a huge fan of, it’s great for MMS video clips.
The third picture shows the open back, which gives us more insight into how they crammed a bigger battery into this thing. It looks like they took that huge circle around the camera and reduced it drastically (obviously removing the manual shutter) and actually sunk it into the back of the phone a bit, for protection, no doubt. Then, if you look REAL close where the arrows are, you’ll see that it appears as though they shaved the thickness of the body down a little bit. This, in addition to moving the camera circle, allowed Nokia to squeeze a bit more space back there.
Personally, this leads me to believe that the bigger battery will NOT fit into the older devices. However, for whatever reason, you could obviously still fit the older battery into the newer device.
As always, keep it right here on the Symbian-Guru for the hottest news, but stick around for the great how-tos and other stuff, as well. :)
