Site Updates Galore!

Well, I’ve been a full-time blogger for a week or so, and I’ve added some fun stuff to the site that I want to point out. Before I do, though, I want to say thanks to anyone who reads Symbian-Guru.com. Today is 10 months, and I’m extremely excited at where this site has gone! I’m really glad to have met some of you in Chicago, and I’m even more excited to meet more readers in L.A.

Click through for the latest site updates here on Symbian-Guru.com.

First things first, I’ve created yet ANOTHER blog at Rickycadden.com. I
bought the domain a few months ago and it’s just been sitting there
till now. It’s not much, but it will basically be a place for me to
talk about mobile-related things that don’t quite fit the Symbian-Guru
context. I’ve got comments turned off because, frankly, it’s a pain to
keep up with them. If you have a comment about a particular post, you
can shoot it to me via email at ricky(at)rickycadden(dot)com. I’ll read
it and respond, for sure.

Secondly, I’ve removed the Lingr chatroom link and replaced it with the
Official Symbian-Guru Swag Store!! The Lingr thing wasn’t really all
that great, I usually checked it to find that I’d missed several
people, and I don’t want you guys to think I’m ignoring you. The
Symbian-Guru Swag Store is brought to you courtesy of Cafepress, and
will be updated more over the next few weeks. Unfortunately, they can’t
stretch an image to fit the various products, so I have to resize it
for each one, which is a big pain in my butt. Right now there’s coffee
mugs (the first and foremost thing I created), t-shirts, a cap, and a
mousepad. Coming soon will be stickers, improved T-shirt designs, and
whatever else you guys request. Expect contests to give this stuff away
in a few months.

Also, Ollywompus has been maintaining a higher profile on
Symbian-Guru.com lately, and will be increasing even more over the next
few months. We’ll be adding author photos next to posts, so that you
can easily know who wrote what. He’s also having a logo made (whatever
the crap an Ollywompus looks like) and that will be available on items
in the store, as well.

Driving with the Guru
will be coming back REAL soon. Hopefully by next
week. Also, I’ve got a few different Chatting with the Guru coming
soon. Thanks again for the feedback on that. Future episodes will be
limited to half an hour, and I’m working on increasing the quality.

Please also remember that I’m now the News Editor at Mobileburn.com. Be
sure to check it out, and I found out today that you can visit
Mobileburn.com into your mobile browser and get a REALLY nice mobile
version. You really can’t beat a Mobileburn.com review, so keep an eye
out when they get another S60 device (or other, if you’re straddling
the fence).

Also, I’m sure most of you have forgotten the m.Symbian-Guru.com mobile site, as well as the S60v3 Freeware App Directory that’s on there. Well, start remembering. I’m going to be working with Jake from S60tv.com to drastically increase the number of apps listed there. That should happen in the coming few weeks, along with some more changes to the mobile site.

I’ve still got more features to roll out soon, so stay tuned!

**Update** As Richard kindly pointed out, I’ve been slacking on the theme and ringtone updates in the sidebar. Please find my new ringtone (might sound a bit familliar) as well as a new theme. This one has been around the net for while, it was created by P@sco and has most all the bases covered in terms of the usual bugs in themes. Enjoy, my friends.

  2. It’s very good to have you here full time. Now I check your site more times along the day!

Are you enjoying beeing a full time blogger?

    Cheers

  3. Richard - Duly noted. Please find a new ringtone and theme available for your download and enjoyment pleasure. These are what I’m currently using on my n95.

  4. Thanks a lot. I always check to to see what you are using. :)

  5. Thanks for the shoutout bro, much appreciated. OH, and an ollywompus looks like whatever my personal logo designer decides she’d like it to look like, lol (she always calls me the wookie, so I’d imagine there will be something with that!).
