Smartphones Show Ep. 43

Steve’s at it again with episode 43 of his awesome Smartphones Show. Much like my own Driving with the Guru, Steve Litchfield’s show is recorded entirely on an S60 smartphone (I believe he’s still using his N93, though I could be wrong on that) and edited on a computer. Steve does a fantastic job, and also has the video available on YouTube for your convenience. If you’re using an S60 device, you can load up the podcast in the Nokia Podcasting app and watch it right on your device, as well.

In this episode, Steve gives a preview of the Smartphone Show put on my Symbian in London next month. Not to be confused with the podcast, the Smartphone Show is a convention that is free to attend and filled with keynote speeches, product demos, and as Steve points out, lots of fun swag. He also has a quick video of the newly announced E51, now the smallest smartphone out there, and pretty well-featured in spite of its miniscule size.

Unfortunately, I will not be attending the Smartphone Show in London, but maybe next year I’ll be able to make it. If you’re in London, or nearby, you should DEFINITELY get signed up to be there, and try to get into the various parties and gatherings outside of the show, such as the AllAboutSymbian Pub Meet, where you can meet the cool guys (and girl) behind AllAboutSymbian, as well as get some hands-on time with new devices.

Smartphones Show Ep 42 - Steve Likes the iPhone?

Steve’s at it again with another KILLER episode of the Smartphones Show. He’s on number 42, and this time it’s all about the Nokia: Go Play event. Steve also gives some thoughts on how to get the most out of your GPS enabled smartphone, and then goes into his list of the top 5 smartphones (you may be surprised).

Steve also asks several questions of the viewer in this episode, the biggest (imo) being what you’d suggest for editing the videos taken by his N93/N95 smartphones. I’m interested to know this, as well. Currently, I’m using Squared5 to convert them to .AVI, and then using Ulead or Sony’s Vegas software to edit the resulting video. The conversion process is annoying, and as of late has been cutting the audio out, as is evident in the latest Driving with the Guru episode.

I’d definitely like to know what people are using (though I’m currently limited to Windows apps) and preferably find a software that can import those N95 video files without having to convert at all. I’m anxiously waiting to see what suggestions Steve got.
