1200mAh BL-6F Battery Fits In Old N95s!

Jay, aka Jose_R.A.M. from the Mobileburn.com forums (cool guy, we posed together here) took a few minutes at the LA party to do a little test, to see if the battery from the new N95s really didn’t fit in the older N95 model. Come to find out, it actually works! Well, sort of. To keep the battery from falling out, you need to have one of those clear plastic crystal cases. You can snag them from Ebay for about $5 USD, and they cover the entire unit.

According to Jay, with this cover in place, the new Bl-6F battery fits in nicely, and the phone has no issues using the extra pick-me-up. He also wonders if perhaps there was another reason that Nokia did not make it available.

Here’s the video, too:

Many thanks to Jay. I know that this video came at great personal cost, and it’s appreciated. ;) If it makes you feel better, there were a few N81s at the Nokia Go Play event that were left with the Symbian-Guru theme intact.

  • Excellent, now someone needs to design replacement battery cover that matches the phone better, even if it produces a mini "bump" to the back of the phone.

I had one of those crystal cases for a while. The back half, as seen in the video, cracked and broke after about three days of the phone being in my pocket, and the slider cover did the same after two weeks. Not impressed.
