Darla Mack has the low-down on the new apps that have been added to the Download! app on the Nokia N95. She found hers on the N95 US 3G, but I was able to update my Euro N95 and it showed the same apps, which is cool.
Some of the cool new apps are Slingplayer for S60, Earthcomber, SLifter, Speech2Go, ScanR, and the Simpsons, as well as a link to the Unlocked campaign website.
Earthcomber is a location-based software that tracks where you’re at and uses the data to point out places you may be interested in. I would imagine we’ll hear/see more of this real soon from Nokia.
SLifter is a personal shopping tool that allows you to search for products and brands and create shopping lists right on your phone.
Speech2Go is *finally* a message reader for Nseries devices. You get a free 2 day trial, after which a full license is only $11.98. Installs clean and reads out incoming caller id, as well as new text messages. Unfortunately, it only has a very robotic sounding male voice, so my enthusiasm is limited. Let me get a female voice with that hot Southern accent and I’m all for it.
ScanR is a really useful piece of software, specifically for the mobile professional. It allows you to snap a pic of a document and then email it as a PDF or even fax it straight from your handset. VERY convenient.
It’s nice to see Nokia finally adding select 3rd party applications to the Download! client. It really makes it useful for consumers. Don’t forget, also, to navigate your phone’s browser to m.Symbian-Guru.com to access the S60v3 Apps Directory, with plenty of links for freeware for your S60v3 device.
