Nokia Hot With Launches This Week?

The fellas over at NokNok.tv have let the cat out of the bag that there are some hot Nokia software launches this week. First up, apparently the Nokia Music Store is launching on Wednesday! Not sure what country that is, but they quote the price per track in pence, so I’m going to assume NokNok is based in the UK.

More exciting than that is the Nokia Music Player for your desktop. I know, you MacHeads and Penguin Lovers couldn’t care less, but for the other 80% of the world’s computer users, that’s good news, maybe. Nokia’s Music Player software was demoed at the Nokia: Go Play event in London, and I have to say I was impressed. When I asked about availability, I was told that it would launch at the same time as the music store. The player will be available in any country, but the store will launch in regions at different times (not surprisingly, no one wanted to tell me where on the list the U.S. was…)

The team developing this new desktop app seemed very excited about it, and I’m really excited to compare it to Windows Media Player and iTunes, to see if Nokia has improved their desktop applications at all.

The other supposed launch is on Friday, and the rumor is that it will be the new Ngage platform. I disagree, personally, opting instead for the N82, given the music keys floating around on this teaser page. However, we’ll just have to wait and see. What do you think? Are you excited about the new music offerings? Do you think the N82 will be announced, or merely Ngage?

  1. Merely N-Gage? I’m excited about N-Gage, and it applies several handsets! I’m thinking merely the N-82? ;-)

  2. Kinda agree. Plus, why would music keys imply the N82?? There are no music keys on it, nor is it particularly music focused otherwise. Still, I would not be terribly surpised if it was launched.
