Video Preview of the Nokia N81
Here’s a quick little video of the Nokia N81 8GB, which I received yesterday from WOM World. I have the honor of testing this little puppy for 2 weeks and providing feedback. Anything specific you’d like to know, please do not hesitate to leave in the comments section, and I’ll be sure to hit on it. I’ll be posting a few things here regarding software and usability and that sort of thing, but the hardcore review will be up on MobileBurn.com in a week or so.

I’m really happy you got one of them! It looks like the italian operator TIM will be selling branded N81s (no music stores from TIM so far) at 399€ SIM free and I’m really thinking on buying one.
Here I got a couple of questions in case you needed some inspiration
1) what’s the feeling of the keys like? do you think this device capable of sustaining arcade games for more then a couple of months without falling into peaces? is it easy to type on the slide keyboard? more specifically: how is the music experience compared to a iPod?
2) what about sound quality? I’d really like to know if it’s as good as in N91 or sounds comes out kinda cold and metallic. Do you hear system sounds in the headphones while listening to music in background?
3) is WiFi range as good as old N95?
4) what’s your 1st impression on battery life?
5) is the camera that bad?
6) how many languages are available for assisted writing T9?
Ricky, first off, I am jealous..
Second, I hope you will a good amount of time to a couple of aspects:
1) is the gaming experience compelling; keys, graphics (so yes, do give a mini review of each of the 3 games included), sound, lanscape orientation
2) is the music _experience_ compelling;
3) in 2 and 3 above, try go beoynd specs and performance, and consider them in the context of the target audience, price point, overall Nokia lineup and strategy, and business needs/realities/constraints
4) does the new media menu make sense/use more intuitive (to me there is at least one fault in it: the active ticket/tab on top is quite small, and a lot of the screen estate is “wasted” to show all the tabs on top and to some empty estate on the sides of the active tab.
Excellent Video preview! I’m jealous even with the N95-3 in my arsenal.
Hi Ricky,
Does the Music Player have the bookmarking feature?
New question: no pencil? How do you copy, paste and change writing language?
- How does the micro-usb perform in comparison to the N95 when transfering files in Mass Storage mode and PC Suite mode?
- Battery life when using Voice, Music, Camera, and WLAN (Internet or other).
- Multi tasking prowess.
I spent quite abit of time with the demo unit at the symbian show, but of course i couldn’t test all of the above. So please look into those.
Congrats
