Nokia Leaks the N82 24hrs Early

Wow, this happened with the Nokia N810 Internet Tablet, too, I think. Whoever’s in charge of posting the press photos on Nokia’s Press site needs a new watch, badly. Let’s recap what might be one of the most leaked handsets in Nokia’s history. It goes all the way back to May when the specs first came out. The Nokia N82 is essentially a candybar N95, with a Xenon flash and gobs of RAM.
Things were quiet for a few months until the .xml file was found and spy pics found. Then Symbian-Freak.com garnered some hands-on pics and a video. Nokia themselves posted a cryptic countdown, which the guys over at Mobile-Review’s forum discovered referenced the N82. So we knew it was coming, but no official pics just yet.
Enter, Nokian with a Broken Watch. The official press photos, all 14 of them, were accidentally published on the site, a full 24 hours ahead of schedule.
Specs as of May included:
Quad-band GSM
HSDPA on 2100MHz (for Europe)
WiFi
Bluetooth 2.0 (with A2DP)
Video Recording VGA, 30 frames per second (read = REALLY good)
5.0MP Carl Zeiss autofocus camera with a new Xenon flash
2.4″ QVGA display
User RAM: 90MB available
MicroSD slot
navi-wheel (as in the N81’s)
GPS built-in
1050MAh battery
Other things I noticed from the pics include Ngage (duh) and that blasted Gallery key is back on the side. I really wish they’d dump that thing. That’s it, I think. Stay tuned tomorrow for more coverage, starting at 6am CST.

Great phone, but I do wonder do you still keep in contact with your friend Blue Blazer Regular and if he will be kind enough to enligthen us the mortals through you The Guru for the phones that will be released in the next six months?
I have been in touch with BlueBlazerRegular somewhat recently, but I only take what is given to me. Rest assured that as soon as I have been told I can report anything, I will.
Ricky - I’m very surprised at your hate for the Gallery key… I actually love that key on the N95, as it gives me a quick way to go to the photos just taken rather than having to plug through the menu to get to it… This is similar to operation on a real digital camera where you can quickly go to your just taken photos… It would be nice if the Symbian operating system would allow us to customize any external buttons just like WM however…
It’s not so much that I hate the button or its function, it’s just that I hate the location. I use a car holder in my truck and it has the arms that grip the phone on the side. I have taken a knife to the padding and yet STILL every time I put it in there, it opens the dang gallery, which isn’t exactly the quickest app on the phone. Annoys the crap out of me.
However, I can’t really think of a good place to put it instead, so I’d just as soon remove it entirely.
Ricky -
You may consider purchasing Garmin’s mobile 10 mount. I live in Chicago and bought one from the factory store here on Michigan Ave near the Nokia store. It is only around $25 and has legs on the 3 sides of the cradle that can be slid around to avoid any buttons or ports you have. additionally they include different sized ones for wider phones… I have been using it for months with my N95 and love the thing… it attached via a suction cup (with compression lever) and never comes off of the window… You can probably find it online, or let me know and I can snap a pick and send it to you…
“1050MAh battery”
Really? That makes me sad. You won’t even be able to get a full day out of it!
Hey,Ricky, one more thing.Congratulate BlueBlazerRegular from me for the super accurate information that he gave you.Way back from May he knew that N82 will be available in Q4 of this year even though everybody were loosing hope for this.He is super cool.
Is there any news on Release Dates?
