I just found out today that the N95-3 (yes, the NAM, I'm not mistaking) is available at TigerDirect.com for $600. This doesn't affect me, as I don't live in the US, but I thought you would be interested. I mean, at THE SAME price, would you buy an N81?

anyone had problems with the phone droping calls ??? i mean bad reception at all ????

what about when you make a call is the chat and ear peace good quality can you hear them at high quality and do thay think your voice is high quality on there end using this phone???

thanks all as i am thinking of getting this phone over the E65 as the E65 has bad reception as it drops calls here and there

Do you N81 owners encounter signal/RF problems due to this issue of antenna placement? like it says here

Ricky, of course it is factored into it. But, that is not a proof that the price is still not subsidized.

“I’d said before that I wanted the Nokia N81 8GB more than the N95 8GB, and I think, honestly, that still stands true.” I feel just the same, I could easily afford an N95 8GB but for some odd reason I rather want the N81. Even though the N81 has no TV-Out, GPS, 5mp cam, big screen or HSDPA… Darn, I hate the way the N95 8GB is tempting me… But the N81 is way more sexy.

Apple gets 40% of the monthly revenue for each iPhone activated on AT&T. Thus, it’s not entirely unsubsidized. You can’t try to say that’s not factored into the $400 price point.

Ricky,

1) what is this sentence based on: “Granted, the iPhone isn’t entirely unsubisidized, but it’s sure close.” Where did you get the information that iPhone is close to being unsubsidized? And unsubsidized by whom? It is not only the manufacturer who can subsidize.

2) And, in any case, the more relevant price comparison, is with other unlocked, unsubsidized 8GB phones. There are not that many around, I guess, but the N91 8GB, N95 8GB and the SE 960 (not sure of the model number come to mind). What are the prices of those? Obviously N 91 8GB has been in the massssrket for quite a while now, so its not terribly relevant. N95 8GB is $745 with Datavision, so clearly higher.

3) Where is the N81 8GB sold in the US? Maybe some online retailers do. But, just converting the Euro price at the current exchange rate is not necessarily accurate.
