Nokia N82 Review Part 1: Q&A
As is becoming practice with reviews here on Symbian-Guru, the first part of the review is going to be a Q&A session with questions that you left in the comments on my first impressions post.
Before the break, I do want to say that I’m much more impressed with the Nokia N82 after I got over my nitpicky issues with the bookmarks syncing and standing on its own. They’re still important features, but there’s obviously more to this phone than those first impressions.
1. How do I feel about the keypad? Honestly, I was skeptical at first, an clumsy, as well. However, after a few days, I’m much more used to it than I thought I would be. Do I still wish they’d gone with a traditional keypad? Only slightly. There is definitely a learning curve, though, and touch-typing is still slower after a few days. I wouldn’t call the keypad a dealbreaker, though, by any measure. I’ll try to cover this more in a later section.
2. In my opinion, is this a better phone than the Nokia N95 8GB? I’ve not spent much time with the 8GB, so I can’t say. However, I’ll pretend that my N95-1 is an 8GB and has a decent battery and RAM. I’d pick the N82 over the N95 8GB easily. The camera is better (with this new flash), the build quality is superb. Now, by superb, I don’t mean superb-for-an-nseries, I mean quite simply superb. Also, after my experience with the N81 8GB, my original theory that removable memory is better than built-in has been proven correct, and you could easily snag the N82 plus an 8GB microSD for the same price as an N95 8GB. However, I would still easily take the N95-3 over the N82, simply for US 3G. If the N82 had US 3G (and no I don’t know if they’re going to make one, though I sincerely hope they do) I would EASILY get the N82 over the N95-3.
Several other bloggers have their hands on the N82, as well, here’s some links to see what they have to say thus far:

I have been using n82 over 2 weeks now. But i am not at all satisfied with the picture quality in low light. The faces at the corners of the screen gets distorted in a group photo. is it because of the small lens used compared to my 3 year old olympus digi cam which takes much better pictures? Is it the same in n95??? i’m very unhappy with this unexpected surprise!!! Somebody please explain…
