Nokia Updates Several Apps

application
Sorry for the group posting, but Nokia has been busy busy lately and updated 3 applications recently. Nokia Wellness Diary, Nokia Search, and MOSH. They’ve also released a new application, Nokia AudioBooks.

Nokia Wellness Diary makes it easy to manage your health on your mobile handset. You can track things like weight, exercise, and number of steps (does this use the N95’s accelerometer?). The update adds Chinese language support and features auto-update and other small enhancements. Leave your feedback here.

Nokia Search has been updated to v4.0 and brings the new realtime updating search from the N81 and N95 8GB to the rest of the S60v3 Feature Pack 1 devices. NOTE: you must open the Application Manager on your phone and remove ALL instances of any previous Search applications before installing Search v4.0. Unfortunately, this WILL NOT add the search link to your Active Standby screen, but you can always set it as one of the top Active Standby apps for easy access.

MOSH has a new mobile client, and this one *appears* to be a .sis app, but in reality, it’s merely a shell with a bunch of weblinks. I really despise stuff like this, though I can see the appeal. Think about it, would you be more likely to use a folder full of weblinks on your device, or open an app that you see in your menu? Still, there HAS to be a way to make this useful other than just weblinks. More on MOSH in a few days.

The new app is Nokia Audiobooks. While this doesn’t yet support Audible.com books, it’s still a handy little app, complete with a desktop app that helps to convert audiobooks into mobile-optimized formats. It allows you to browse chapters, set bookmarks, and a host of other cool features. You can leave feedback here, and note that it’s in beta, so if you have feedback, nows the time to offer it, as they’ll likely be using that to shape future versions.

  1. So I started to get a bit excited when I read that the search was available for all S60v3 FP1 devices, but last I checked by E90 was a FP1 device and it’s still not available for it. :-(
