Astraware Jumping On The UIQ Wagon

When it comes to gaming on Windows Mobile and Palm devices, one company has always had it right: Astraware. One of the major leaders of the game scene, Astraware is always releasing new games, updating previous ones and seriously improving the user experience. Most notable are Astraware’s Classic Collection (Sudoku, Boardgames and Solitaire), Hidden Expedition: Titanic, Bejeweled 2, Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars and Tradewinds 2. I’ve had the opportunity to play some of these games in trial-mode on my Qtek 9100 and all I can say is that they left me drooling for more. I also got to read a lot of reviews and not once did I notice the slightest bad overall impression.

What does it have to do with Symbian? Well, Astraware recently announced that they are going to support the Symbian UIQ platform. That is one great piece of news! By broadening their perspectives, Astraware prove that they are looking for greater device support and hence greater market share, and who has more market share than S60? No one. With the hopefully soon release of N-Gage and its much expected success and S60 touch devices due sometime next year, I can definitely see Astraware looking into S60, and what a blast that would be!

Go ahead, take a look at all the games offered by Astraware and tell us what you think. Do you think they have a place in the S60 world or would they be eaten for breakfast by already established companies? Would you like to see them integrate N-Gage, or would you prefer them on touch devices?
