Mobile Web Server Updated, New Widgets

mymobilesite_widgetsI’ve been testing these out for a while, and have to say, they’re freakin awesome, if you’re using Mobile Web Server, and Yahoo Widgets, that is. First, though, the Mobile Web Server application was updated a few days ago. New features include an enhanced Calendar feature, as well as updates to the messaging capabilities. You can download the new version v1.2 here.

**Note to N95-3 and 6120 users: there’s currently some sort of bug with these two devices. Right now, it’s probably best that you stick with your current version. I’m working with Jukka to try to figure out what’s up with these two devices.**

Also announced today is the cool new Mobile Web Server Widgets bundle. These widgets run inside the Yahoo! Widgets engine, which has other cool widgets such as a hula girl (which I’m currently using). These widgets offer a glimpse inside your device from your desktop, and allow you to do fun stuff such as read and respond to messages, as well as view your images and a few other fun things. There was a calendar widget, which will be coming shortly.

Also, Jukka and the Mobile Web Server team have put together a wiki that goes through how you can develop your own widgets for the Mobile Web Server, to do whatever you want it to.

To install these widgets, head on over to the Mobile Web Server site for instructions and downloads.
