It’s not been too long since the N95 8GB’s firmware was updated to include Web Runtime support and integrated Flash Lite 3. However, P@sco has discovered an update that’s coming soon, and it looks to be quite sizable, jumping from v11.0.026 to v15.0.015.
Not much is known currently, other than it either is or will soon be available for handsets with the Italian product code 055829, and seems to be pending within a month or so for other product codes.
The N95-1 Classic is also scheduled to receive an update, as Mark Guim noticed in a YouTube video. V21.0.001 is apparently available to developers for testing purposes, and appears to add the same built-in Flash Lite 3, which allows .FLV videos (such as YouTube) to play directly from the S60 browser.
Personally, I’m extremely upset at this. Where’s the update to the N95-3 with all these enhancements? Yeah, the U.S. 3G version with increased RAM and bigger battery? Is the N95-3 destined to the same fate of the E62 and N75? The red-headed stepchild of the N95 family, completely ignored when the firmware updates get passed around? To date, the N95-3 has received ONE firmware update, which did nothing but offer a few minor bugfixes.
Seriously, Nokia? If you’re not going to support the US 3G handsets post-sale, then is it really worth offering them in the first place?
