N96 Launch Video - They Finally Did It!
How many times have we griped over Nokia’s Nseries and flagship devices advertisements? How many times did we say that the message wasn’t clear, that the storyline wasn’t enticing, that the phone was shown for only 2-3 seconds at the end? Well I am proud to say that they finally got it right. Dude, did it have to take forever?!
Anyway, you can watch the N96 advertisement below and see what a witty, impressive, passionate, thrilling piece of art it is. Yup, you read that right. Heck, after watching it, I want an N96 myself, and I want it NOW!
Jump after the break to watch the YouTube N96 Launch video and some thoughts.
It’s not just the cute guy, by the way, it’s the advertisement as a whole. It shows all uses and advantages of the N96, in a nice storyline layout. In short, if the N96 had lips and it could speak, it wouldn’t market itself better than this.Oh and next time you do an ad like this, Nokia, can you please get the actors to say their lines in a real-word way, this one is a little bit over-acted (yes I always have to find something to criticize).

The ad was great, but the product is still not that much more impressive than the N95s, IMHO.
I liked the advertisement too, but they still won’t be getting my money for it. We’ll already be waiting another 6 months just to have an opportunity to purchase it, but then we’ll see a NAM version come out 6 months later, and then an extended battery version 6 months after that. I’m tired of this game from Nokia.
I think it’s better than N95 8GB,definately, this one is an 16GB extended to 24GB in a phone (!!?!) the sreen (2.8″) is wide enough so you can check the famous DVB-H channels. Well I just mentioned the 2 aspects that N95 8GB doesn’t do at all BESIDES the design is much more improved than the N95 square formfactor. Anyway I would get it if NOKIA doesn’t show up with another NOKIA N93 KILLER by that time…
Im glad to say im still very happy i bought the n95 8GB. only the added storage would be very welcome (16GB + 8GB (might be more in the future)) is 24 gb of pure storage :D.
agh, ill wait for my new phone with touch UI
i love the look of the new phone. But i’m tired of this game from nokia. The battery spec is horrible and i won’t be getting this phone. The n95 8gb is the superior phone simply because of the 1200mah battery. Even if fp2 is more battery friendly the n96 battery should NOT be 950. That is plain stupid. Now add in the missing usa 3g and its a waste. Of course nokia will sell the n96 in the states first and trick people into buying it only to release an updated version later.
i hate this ad, it looks cheap and common..
i can’t help but feel sad for the guy in the end ..he looks such a stupid and loser with no life after owning the n96 and i don’t want to associate myself with that!..
i must prefer the classy and subtle n95 and n82 ad, especially n82 with the storytelling bit, examine how cleverly they insert the xenon feature into the ad, perfect! it make me wanna own the device..
remember its emotional/sensurround design that connects not in-your-face shouty message..unless you are in China or US (to some degree)
I’m sorry, but the Sony XPERIA has caught my eye a lot more than the new Nokias.
While it probably won’t replace my N95, I do like the design of the N96. As for the ad, I totally agree, Ricky, it was about time. I just hope that this isn’t all they have up their sleeves. I certainly hope that their marketing will become closer to what apple knows to do.
no Xenon flash and 950 battery?
ridiculous…
I wait for N96 24GB version to release first before i get it
maybe then it come with xenon flash, and bigger battery.. and who knows.. touch screen.. hehe
the sad thing is people are always ahead of design and in most cases we still waiting for that perfect phone..the dream phone for most people is Apple-like UI design + Nseries-like features:
1. Iphone (Coolest UI and OS, gorgeous design, unacceptably lame features)
2. HTC Touch and other new WinMo devices (crappy layer of eyecandy touch UI on top of an horrendously ugly OS; horrible camera)
3. N95 8GB (superb overall features, lousy slider design and sad 320×240pix resolution, bulky, no Xenon flash or lense cover, non-upgradable fixed 8GB memory)
4. N82 (best camera better than n95 and n96, Xenon with lense cover, monoblock, smaller than other Nseries, superb memory (90MB free), fast processor, disappointing 320×240 screen, way cheaper than n95, expandable memory)
5. n96 (huge gimmicky 16GB memory that not exactly what most ppl want(imagine the slowness of your gallery), pathetic battery no matter what they make u believe its OK with their clever optimization, no Xenon or lense cover (???), same crappy 320×240pix screen, it sucks when you know a better version of n96 will be out few months after you bought it)
6.Experia X1 (amazing screen resolution everyone been waiting, terrific practical QWERTY keyboard, disappointingly running on crappy WinMO (i wont buy it solely because of this!), camera not as good as others)
7. LG Viewty (no WIFI??..are they out of their mind???, camera cant compares to Nokias)
8. E90 (the ugliest phone i ever see in my entire life..nuff said)
9. E71 (cool qwerty, nice black design with good 320×320pix screen, not-so-good 3MP camera, slow processor)
10. Nokia 6220 classic (Excellent features but no WIFI????!!!!..crap)
11. Iphone 3G (3G is so last decade, most it will have a 3MP lousy camera..total yawn fest!)
from the list you know why N82 is the best seller in Asia at the moment (shortage everywhere) and the best future-proof phone to get now until they release maybe n98
first of all sorry for the messed up page before, i thought i had it right with the html turns out i was wrong…
second, this post isn’t about discussing the bad and good about the n96, it’s about the launch video… the n96 may be the crappiest device on earth (i said “may” be) in the eyes of some, or not, the point is don’t you feel that the launch video is great and that it makes you want to buy it, regardless of the features?
Soooo negative. I think you must work for the Iphone mob!
sorry folks, got carried away there..thousands of apologies…
I have the original N95 with a 8gb memory card. The N96 interests me a lot, but its achilles heel is obviously the lack of a touch screen. If I were nokia I would incorporate an app such as RotateMe to at least reduce the impact on this point. Battery life of course is a given, if they haven’t improved that in magnitudes x2 or x3 they are going to get slagged for it. As for the ad, well its going to spark interest, but it wont circumvent any failures in spec on the new phone.
Anyone know whats the CPU speed of N96 and howmuch RAM does it have + is FPU processor integrated or not ?
