Ngage Launches - For Nseries Owners *Update*

Nokia N81_02If you’re the lucky owner of a Nokia N81 device (8GB or microSD version) you’re invited by the N-gage team to head on over to the First Access forums to get the pre-release version of the new app and start your gaming!

I’ll be checking this out later today and will followup tomorrow with a full set of screenshots and first reactions. To get started, you’ll need to click here, sign-in, and then download the application to your computer. Once you get signed up, be sure to add ‘symbianguru‘ as your friend, so we can game together.

**PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS LIMITED TO N81 DEVICES CURRENTLY**

**UPDATE** Wouldn’t you know, Ewan from AllAboutSymbian beat me to the punch with screenshots and some commentary.

**REUPDATE** An enterprising individual has already removed the wrapper that limited the installation to N81 devices. P@sco at Jaspp.net posted that you could simply unsis the application, and here’s a link to the installation file. Simply install this on any newer Nseries device to get in on the action. I’ve tested on my N95-3 and it works fine.

  1. arugh!!!! oh well my n81 is gone already…guess ill jus gotta wait the week or so till it gets released on other s60 devices

  2. Seriously, how many people have a N81?

  3. Mr-X - I think that’s the point. The N81 is supposed to be a ‘gaming phone’, so it fits with marketing, but also, since a small number have been sold, it works well for them to be able to control the smaller size.

I’ve been playing for a few hours this afternoon, and to be honest, it’s better that the general public NOT have this app just yet. More to come soon.

  4. Ricky, if you need Screenshot app to capture N-Gage games, please let me know.
The current official version (2.80) does not capture N-Gage games properly.
The new version (3.01) has fixed this problem; but the signed version is not available yet.

The unsigned one is available here, http://sourceforge.net/projects/screenshot-sos

  5. Antony - Thanks! I managed to get the v2.8 to get *some* shots, but it wasn’t working all that great. The popup notification ended up in several shots, which I had attributed to the Ngage app slowing things down. I’ll try again with this version.

  6. Let me know if you have problems with signing the app…

  7. there’s an easy way to have ngage on n95 8gb too… :)
if Ricky agree i’ll be happy to explain :)

  8. Please explain p@asco, if not here, on your blog!

  9. on my blog already explaind mate, it’s an easy procedure, hope Ricky agree for posting here :)

  10. Posted and linked, thanks for digging in on that, P@sco

  11. you’re welcome my friend! ;)

  12. Doe anyone else have another link for this as the one provided doesnt seem to work (probably getting hammered!) I have tried installing Sisxplorer but it doesnt seem to like Vista 64!

  13. anyone got this running on the N82 yet?

  14. I got my hands on that pasco version installed on my N82 and playing Block Breakers even purchased it for $5, i used to play that game on my Moto with crappy graphics but on this its looks awesome :D

  15. Not working on nokia n73…

  16. The best thing is that multimedia keys on N95 are working in games. Simply awesome.

  17. man, this app is awful - I know its only Beta but its slooooooow, clunky looks terrible.

    Uninstalled.

  18. The app itself is working fine on e65 but the games execute with an error that makes them shut down. too bad.

  19. Got NGage running on my N73.

Playing System Rush at the moment, the Ngage app is a bit slow to load up, but the game plays great.

  20. N-gage app and games are working well on my nokia 6290 though I haven’t tried internet.

  21. works fine on n73 me.

  22. I keep getting an update Error on my 95-3. Any one else having problems?

  23. how did u get it work on n73?

  24. This new daily licence of games is a security “nightmare”, by “invalidating” the library DRM key you can make to “Day Licence” last for at least 4 days. There is denial of this on the website “http://forums.arena.n-gage.com/nokia/board/message?board.id=firstaccessnews&thread.id=3″
However the programmers of the app failed correctly initialize the DRM clock, knowon problem “http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.php/KIS000749_-_DRM_Clock_initialization_required_for_validating_the_activation_key_of_DRM-protected%2C_time-based_licensed_content”
Though of course the high score cannot be added to online, the Tetris game can play 15 rows and win the game. This basically means ordinary users can get games for 25% or less of the original cost. The trial marker disappears and does not come back. This is not a hack just using phone menu to disable ONE not two DRM files and is not the same as in denial Alleged Advisory.
This happens on an N81 so no where to hide.
We wait to see when the “real” hackers.
Perhaps when people are no longer “ripped” of by buying full licences and not getting any codes and left on hold on the “UK Premium Support for 30 minutes” people might stop hacking the security

  25. I ve got the ngage app working on my n73 v3.068001. It works fine. Havent tried a game yet. But the showroom has a problem. At first it was cool but when i tried to update it, it gave me errors. Now i cant even go into the showroom without the entire app crashing. HELP!!

  26. I have an N81-8GB version. Ngage showroom is already installed on it. when i downloaded a test version of a game it starts to install and then it says that i need a newer version of the NGAGE application. When i press download i were forwarded to the Nokia ngage home page but it said that i have the latest software on my moile.
When i anyway download the ngage installer from the webpage and install it, I get an “update error”. Does anyone know why???

I have read also that i have to install p.i.p.s. v1.2 (version 1 is already integrated on the mobile but i cant uninstall it; when i try to install pips v1.1 it says: “unable to install, component is buildt in”) And I can’t install version 1.2 when version 1.1 is on my mobile.

I tried to reset to default settings but that didn’t help at all!

please help me getting these feature running. I am so looking forward to play all these ngage games.

    Does anyoneknow what to do???

    thanks
