Nokia has announced that they will *finally* be adding Google to the search engine options in their Nokia Search application, which is downloadable for nearly all handsets, but sports direct access on the newer ones. Currently, at least in the U.S., we have to choose between Windows Live! search and Yahoo!, neither of which I’m particularly fond of. Google will be included in the Search application on the freshly announced N78, 6220 Classic, 6210 Navigator, and N96, and should be available to older handsets via a Search update soon, as well.
Nokia Search lets you search your handset’s memory as well as a quick click to web results for images or photos. The biggest thing missing, in my opinion, has been local search, and that’s something I’m really hoping Google brings. Hopefully we’ll also see more Google integration throughout the year, as we recently got a native-Symbian version of Google Maps.
