Scroll Wheel - 2 - I Kill You… Nokia!
Blame it on the fact that I’ve been emTub’ing a lot of Jeff Dunham’s Achmed videos recently, but fact is, even if I love the lack of settings in the scroll wheel which I have discussed yesterday, I can’t help but think there’s something wrong, and something missing there. It’s a matter of pure logic.
I won’t talk about the fact that it isn’t activated by default because I think for now it’s a sort of a public beta, put out there for those who know about it or who are ready to fiddle around with their devices. I’m not making alibis, but that’s what I believe it is. I won’t talk about the fact that it doesn’t work throughout the whole UI, which gets explained by the same reason stated above. Although I believe it would be a tremendous add if it was allowed in the browser (probably a new firmware update?!), I can understand that for now it remains limited to music and gallery.
What I will talk about is a couple of things I have noticed when working with the scroll wheel…
- The scroll wheel handles the clockwise / counter-clockwise rotations in the Gallery in what seems to be a very counter-logic way. I have already developed my idea over at Dotsisx so I won’t be repeating myself. All I can say is that it makes sense when you think about it, but it’s not intuitive when you first try it.
- The scroll wheel doesn’t function in the now playing screen (music player) or during video playing. I wonder why. Nseries could’ve added some sort of functionality to the scroll wheel there, either volume control or FF/RW, or well maybe something else.
- Something needs to be done in the bluetooth department. Ya. The scroll wheel functions when you select Send, it functions in the Send via menu (multimedia, email, bluetooth or post to web), but when you go for Bluetooth and you want to select a device, it doesn’t function. What?! Are you kidding me?! I’m still inside the same application, be it the music player or the gallery, and just a second ago I was using the scroll wheel, what happened now? Why can’t i use it?!
For now, I can excuse Nseries for everything missing in the scroll wheel, but these are 3 behaviors I can’t find an alibi for. I want them fixed, and I want it now or I … Kill You!

Oh Rita .. lol ..
You watch some Achmed Videos right, i can tell that of your last Statement hehe ..
Nice Article by the Way, pretty looking forward to your final Thoughts
Michael
my scroll wheel don’t work at all. i tried disabling it then enabling it again; off and on my phone, etc. but to no avail.
my N81 8GB is giving me a lot of other problems too: my music player doesn’t refresh properly - it might refresh the new songs i’ve added the first time round, then when i go back after exiting it reverts back to the old list.
it keeps asking me to “insert sim card” every so often too… sigh. all in all i think i’ve made a huge mistake in getting this but i don’t have enough cash to change to something better…
anyone can help me solve the above problems so that i can live with it better?
