G4tv is the result of many other tech shows gone by, and it’s really just guys who know tech, talking about it. Recently on a segment called ‘Gadget Pr0n’, they reviewed the Nokia N82, and it was a pleasure to see that not only did they like it, but they totally knew what they were talking about. The only ‘gotcha’ is that they mentioned it has 3G, which is partially true. The N82 features WCDMA on the 2100MHz band, with HSDPA data speeds. However, this band is unusable in the U.S., where the show is targeted. So they’re half-right. Aside from that, they absolutely loved the camera, the menu speeds, and the TV-out features, and in the end, suggested that if you’ve got the ~$500 laying around, you should get it.
We’ve spent plenty of time here at Symbian-Guru.com with the N82 (parts 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 of our review) and have to completely agree. It’s a fantastic device, specially for the price tag, which is for an unlocked/unbranded model, mind you, so you can use it on whatever GSM carrier you’re using, around the world.
