Nokia 6124 For Vodafone Announced

Nokia 6124 For Vodafone Announced

This morning at CeBIT Nokia announced the 6124 candybar handset, an exclusive to Vodafone, though looking at the spec sheet, I’m not sure anyone minds. The 6124 rocks a boring 2 megapixel camera, though there is some sort of panorama mode included. HSDPA, likely on the 2100MHz band, is also there, along with a microSD card slot and a ‘large’ 2.0″ display.

Normally I hate carrier exclusive deals, but with the boring features on this 6124, I can’t say that I’m really disappointed. I’ll be interested to see what Nokia services, if any, come to this handset, such as Ovi. The 6124 is expected to start shipping in Q2 2008.

  1. Weren’t you just a couple of weeks ago saying Nokia should collaborate more with carriers? ;) Sure, this is not for the US.

Looks nice, if priced well will sell well.

  2. Collaborate, yes. Put out 2mp S60 handsets? No. ;)

  3. Lol.. well, that’s what you get with carrier collaboration: compromises to push price point down while keeping Nokia’s margins healthy (which then allow them keep dominating the market and to push the technology envelope elsewhere). :)

  4. how much 6124?? plsss tell.. i will buy :). if the price is right enough for me.. haha

  5. This phone looks like the Nokia 6120c with a Vodafone badge painted on! I have to admit I liked my 6120c, the light weight did it for me :) Now I have an N95-2, feature packed but a bit bulky. Texting was much nicer to do from the 6120c. Thanks for your review. (PS If the 2MP camera is the same on the 6124 as it was on the 6120….well you can be guaranteed that it sucks!)
