Nokia “Comes With Music” Back In The Arena
Nokia’s “Comes With Music” service, that was announced during the Nokia World event in December 2007, has been in the pipeline for a while. Ricky and I have previously expressed our enthusiasm for the service, but as the time passed, we have all grown to think that it was announced way too early, as Ricky explained it a few days ago.
When the service was first revealed, we were told it would start being available in mid 2008. Days have been flying and we didn’t hear more explanations or more details about it. Universal Music was still the only label on board. That was the situation until a week ago when Stefan from IntoMobile reported the news that EMI was joining in [via Reuters]. It was about time! And just today, Symbian Freak found out that Nokia is in talks with some major labels about the service.
In the brief news, Anssi Vanjoki, Nokia’s Executive Vice-President declared:
“We have negotiations and discussions ongoing with all the majors and a number of indies as well […] Certainly our target is to have other labels on board.”
Well, now we can only cross our fingers, and hope these negotiations fall into place, because we want the service, and we want it soon! CTIA is around the corner, so we sure hope to hear some substantial deal confirmations, as well as a true release date and supported device.
