Nokia Hires Elizabeth Schimel As Head Of Global Music
In a move that I can only hope means that we’ll soon see the Nokia Music Store and Nokia’s desktop music application here in the United States sometime soon, MocoNews.net brings us the news that Nokia has hired Elizabeth Schimel as the new Head of Global Music. Schimel comes to Nokia directly from Comcast, where she oversaw content development, and also Elizabeth previously held the position at AT&T of VP of Business Development for Multimedia Services.
Clearly, this looks to be a good addition, for a few reasons. The first thing I like about this new hire is that Elizabeth is obviously familiar with the U.S. consumer. Comcast is the largest cable television provider in the United States, and the second largest Internet Service Provider. AT&T is the largest GSM mobile network operator in the United States, and a company with whom Nokia has had a historically troubled relationship.
Welcome aboard, Elizabeth, and let’s hope that your new position results in more attention for the U.S. market from Nokia, particularly in the music arena, with the Nokia Music Store and more importantly, a halfway decent desktop music management alternative.
