Nokia To Bring Silverlight To S60v3

Nokia To Bring Silverlight To S60v3

Nokia announced this morning that it is working to bring Microsoft’s Silverlight web technology to the S60 operating system. Silverlight is a cross-browser, cross-platform web technology that allows web applications to feature animation, audio-video playback, and other abilities. Basically, it’s another version of Flash Lite 3, only from Microsoft.

Silverlight will be demoed tomorrow at the Microsoft MIX08 conference keynote speech, becoming available later this year for developers, and shortly thereafter being included in handsets. Silverlight will be yet another platform that allows developers to bring their applications to Nokia’s S60 operating system without having to completely rewrite it from scratch.

More to come after the keynote on March 5th, 2008 in Las Vegas, NV.

The unreleased firmware for the N95 even has this working…
