OxyCube To Take On PC Suite, Already Losing
If you want to sync your phone with your computer, there aren’t all that many options. Obviously Nokia’s free PC Suite is there for those using Windows, but it’s limited, and slightly buggy, leaving most to ask ‘Is this it?’ The good news is no, there’s another option for syncing and managing your handset through your computer, called OxyCube. This is the latest update to the old Oxygen Phone Manager, only it’s received a whole new makeover.
OxyCube is also compatible with more than just Nokias. They claim compatibility with a TON of different devices, great if you’re a constant switcher, as you’re not continuously trying to find the latest version of each manufacturer’s own software. The new OxyCube makes it easy to manage your contacts/calendar, as well as browse files and that sort of thing. There’s even a built-in ‘Event Log’ that allows you to view call logs, messages, and other information without having to pull it up on the handset.
Greatness, you’re thinking! Why would I ever need PC Suite again?! Well, 2 reasons - First, obviously, is firmware updates. OxyCube can’t access Nokia’s firmware server, and thus will not be able to update the firmware on your handset. Bummer. The other bad news, as you can see from the screencap below, is that it’s insanely expensive. Where PC Suite is free, and works with any Nokia handset (both S40 and S60), OxyCube is $100 if I want to use it with my Nokia N95. Apparently it’s licensed only for one phone at a time.
So….while OxyCube just might be the greatest thing since sliced bread, since I’m going to have to have PC Suite installed anyways, for whenever Nokia decides to get off their butt and FINALLY update my N95-3, which has become the red-headed stepchild of the N95 product line, I might as well just use PC Suite for everything else. After all, it’s free.

$100 ?
Crazy pricing.
Nokia software updater is the only reason windows is still on my pc.
I wish pc suite and the software updater had linux compatibility.
I found that price deffers depending on phone model. For my 6230i it’s just about EUR 22.
i actually see this software as silly. There’s no advantage to the software being able to work with multiple phones if i have to purchase a separate license for each one. Its like purchasing multiple applications as well >:)
the thing with pc suite, is .. it sucks.. no pim-manager, and required for installing the cable-driver ( i think).
the thing with oxycube & the former: oxygene phone manager symbian os, this application its license is limited to one phone per purchase, big suck too..
so pfffffffff, when will there be an free opensource alternative?
