Opera Mini has long been the undisputed champion of java-based web browsers bringing the ‘desktop web’ to your mobile handset. However, there’s a new fish in the sea, and this one’s hungry for S60 users. The TeaShark web browser has been released to the wild, and, despite being java, it’s actually pretty good.
TeaShark is based on Webkit, the same as the latest S60v3 web browser, and the iPhone’s mobile Safari. TeaShark is similar to Opera Mini in that it passes the data through a server to cut down on the data costs, and also speed things up quite a bit. TeaShark has a large helping of neat features, as well, such as tabbed browsing, with a small thumbnail preview of each page, as well as a handy autocomplete feature.
TeaShark also features an online bookmark manager that you can access from your desktop browser, making it super-easy to get your favorite pages easily on your mobile browser. You can download TeaShark for yourself at http://wap.teashark.com (they REALLY need to fix that with an m-dot URL. WAP is a dirty word nowadays).
Thanks to Vlad at Ssixty.info for the headsup.
