AutoThemes Keeps Things Fresh
AutoThemes, from SymbianGuru (not me, but they still have cool apps for your S60v3 handset) is a great little app that lets you schedule themes based on profiles or actual times. The theme change happens automatically, and there’s no need to reboot your handset or press any buttons. The application can easily be deactivated with just one keypress, as well.
I think this is awesome, and a much needed feature for S60v3 handsets. We’ve got all these great themes, but who thinks to change theirs that often? A key use I can see is to set this for bedtime, so you get a darker, less blinding theme in case you wake up and need to read an SMS or something.
Another great use scenario is if you like to have a bit more risque theme, but need something a bit more….tasteful while you’re at work. No big deal, setup a ‘work’ profile, and set your ‘clean’ theme for that. AutoThemes will take care of the rest, making sure you appear angelic at work (or at least your phone does), but a bad boy (or girl) at play.
AutoThemes is in V1.0, and will surely get some updates. Personally, I’d like to have a Random Theme setting, so that my theme is changed every X hours throughout the day, or ever morning. What other features would you like to see added to the app?
