HOT: Nokia Ngage 2.0 Launched!

HOT: Nokia Ngage 2.0 Launched!

Browsing HowardForums during my lunch, I came across this thread, showing that Nokia’s Ngage v2.0 (the real, official one) has been launched and is available for download! Currently, the official phones that are supported include the obvious N81, as well as the N82, N95, and N95 8GB. Feel free to give it a try on other handsets, and please report back here in the comments if you get it working!

I’m installing now on my N95-3, and will update this post as soon as possible!

**Update** - The installation takes FOREVER, and does not include any games. The showroom allows you to download System Rush: Evolution, Asphalt 3: Street Rules, Brain Challenge, World Series of Poker: Pro Challenge, and Hook On: Creatures of the Deep.

I’m able to download a game and play it, but I still can’t login OR create a new account with either rcadden (which I used with First Access) or symbianguru (if someone else registered that name, I have to confess to being slightly annoyed). Haven’t tried a new account with a random name yet. I was finally able to sign-in with my First Access account info. Hint: watch out, it automatically capitalizes the first letter of your username, you may need to override this.

Also, turns out, I just missed the unofficial, official announcement at the Official Ngage Blog. Looks like the Press Release should be public on Monday, but they wanted to give die-hards like you and I a little sneak preview. Bravo, Ngage team, Bravo.

  1. I just tried to install it on my N82 and when I start the app, I keep getting a “system error”. I’ll try it again later.

  2. Instructions for the N95: “View your software version number on your device display. If you have version 20.0.015 or higher you are ready to download N-Gage”. Ummm … as a fellow N95-3 owner, I’m hesitant to install it since Nokia does not care enough about us Americans to release that firmware. Are you running into any problems?

  3. It installed fine on my N95-3, and I was able to pull up the Showroom and all. However, I’m having BIGTIME issues logging in/creating a new account.

  4. Ok seriously, everytime I go away, Ngage is launched! Happened with First Access and now this. I am seriously unlucky!

  5. What did they do with the accesspoints? Even after I changed stuff it kept going for 3G.. I want WIFI!

They need to fix this thing..

The interface looks good but I am still lost in the client.. Nokia guide me!!!!

  6. @Raimo - You need to go into the settings and change your preferred access point, then exit the application and log back in for it to save your setting. No doubt this will be fixed quickly.

  7. @Raimo
As Ricky said, change them, exit, then open the app again. I had the same issue and was screaming tragedy, but it’s working now.

  8. What a waste of system memory.

Slow, clunky with minimal games - already uninstalled.

  9. yeaah solved now… Logging into system rush.. going to arena..What is happening now? From landscape to portrait to landscape.

  10. What the hell is wrong with the access point information? I’ve got it set to use my Devicescape connection as Preferred, and T-Mobile Internet as Alternative (doesn’t actually matter which way round I put them) and when it tries to log in it asks me to choose an access point - either Easy WLAN or T-Mobile Picture Messaging - neither of which of course will ever work.

I tried setting the correct ones, exiting and going back in, but it still insists on asking me to choose from 2 impossible choices.

  11. @ The Guru.. If you’re having trouble logging in.. i.e: N-gage freezes.. you need to reboot your phone then it will work correctly.. This happened with My N95-1.. but after rebooting it.. it’s working fine now!

  12. I’m having all sorts of problems getting N-Gage to work properly. I finally got the access points sorted out and I’m able to log into my account through my device. I was able to download the demo of Creatures of the Deep (fell in love with that game at the LA Mansion event). I tried to purchase it and it keeps giving me an error 36 and crashing. I tried to download another game and I got a message saying corrupted file. That happened a few times in a row — does that mean the file Nokia has for us to download is corrupted? With all of these problems I can’t see N-Gage catching on unless Nokia fixes them FAST. Without all of the information available on the blogs I never would have been able to even get the access point working properly. Your average user isn’t going to take the time to get N-Gage to work properly. N-Gage isn’t ready for prime time yet. Some of the beta labs stuff works a lot better.

  13. Still some bugs in the application / plattform.
Experienced to be thrown out to the standby screen the first couple of times right after reinstall on my N82.

Your name symbianguru is not taken as there currently are not anyone named that. Grab it fast mate.
Love your blog, was at work when your wedding was broadcasted. Will catch up on that.

Belated Congratulations to you and your beloved one.

  14. It’s quite good. My friend has already downloaded it on his N95 8GB and he is quite impressed with N-Gage.

  15. hi I’m having a problem here I installed the n-gage in my N95 and it works great with trial version but after I buy the full version I cant play the game it always close out and indicate ”user error 47” I would like to know how to solve it.
    Thanks
