Nokia, Connecting More People

Nokia, Connecting More People

To every blogger around, there’s no doubting the fact that Nokia has the best interaction programs with mobile sites and blogs, as well as consumers and followers. And I am not the first person to say that.

Between the S60 blogs, WOMWorld, a US Mobile Blogger Program, the S60 Ambassadors, Nokia has their hands in reach of a wide, real wide audience. The level of interaction that comes out of it is astonishing. Through the S60 blogs, we have come to read the thoughts of those who are involved with the company itself, true employees from the mothership, who aren’t afraid to voice their opinions. Through WOMWorld, we have come to discover more bloggers and people who share the same passion, agree with us on certain points, disagree on others. It’s no doubt that Nokia isn’t only “Connecting People” through voice calls and sms, they are also bridging the gaps through a nice 24/7 community that they helped develop and maintain.

During the last few days, we’ve learned that Nokia will be expanding their communication programs even more. It’s no longer about Eseries or Nseries in the Finnish company, it’s more about reaching out to the consumer, no matter where he is or what he does. It’s also more about helping us, bloggers, spread the word about more devices and services.

The first step is the expansion of WOMWorld, which we have grown to call “Nseries WOMWorld”, but is now “WOMWorld / Nokia“. The change isn’t only affecting the name, it’s affecting the whole concept. Now WOM won’t be limited to Nseries, but will be spreading to cover Eseries, Nseries and some new services. This will allow visitors of the WOMWorld site to find news about all of these, and will allow us bloggers to reach out to others who only cover Eseries, as well as get our grubby hands on some Eseries handsets. Here is the money quote from what they had to say when announcing the new launch:

All in all Nokia loves hearing what you have to say about their devices and services, and they are listening, so keep saying what you want to say and we’ll keep covering it!

The second communication portal is a totally new one. It’s called Nokia Conversations and has already been reported by Zacharye and Darla as well as Daemon. As the name hints at it, Conversations is all about the conversations that evolve around Nokia, be it services, devices, software, future developments… Conversations is more of the Nokia-version of S60 Blogs and should allow us all to interact with the people behind the company. The site hasn’t launched yet, but should be available some time soon.

Personally, I am really excited to see Nokia move ahead and establish themselves once more as the kings of consumer and blogger interaction. When my friends ask me why other manufacturers don’t send me devices to trial, like “Nokia” do, I stand in puzzlement and can’t find a decent answer. Seriously, why don’t others do it? Because they still don’t seem to have discovered that when they hand one device to one person, the handset will at least circle in twenty other hands and stir a lot of Conversations. This is the true power of Word Of Mouth marketing, and that is how you Connect People with each other, but also with you. Fascinating how everything falls into place when you step back and look at the big picture. Can you see it too?

  4. Have to say, couldn’t have written a better post myself. Great job tying it all together, Rita.

    @Charlie, I’ve been offline for a week with honeymooning and moving, but I’m excited to check out the Conversations site, as I’ve been looking forward to it for a while now.

    @Stefan, ditto times a million.

  5. iN10Se,
    I had to make good use of my photoshop skills to get it done at 1am in the morning, now that it’s done, I find it really nice.

    Charlie,
    Nokia Conversations is by far the biggest news that has come out of Nokia during 2008. Devices can be announced at any time, but a communication portal with the people inside is priceless.

    Stefan & Ricky,
    We always like to complain when something is done wrong, but when something is done so well, it’s only right to give it a nice round of applause.

  6. The Word of Mouth that we all surely love. Really suitable image Rita, didn’t know you had the Photoshop talent :)
