Honestly, I’m pretty infatuated with the built-in S60v3 browser on my Nokia N95-3, but competition is always a good thing, so I wanted to let you know that Opera’s uber-popular Opera Mini java-based web browser has already gotten a new beta, up to v4.1.
The new version includes some hot features, such as up to 50% speed improvements, a URL auto-complete feature, and the ability to not only search for specific words within a page, but also save pages for offline viewing. A new file manager feature was also snuck in, so that you don’t need to muck about with your handset’s built-in (or lack thereof) file manager when uploading or downloading files.
One thing that Opera Mini is awesome for is introducing your friends and family to the wonderful world of the mobile web. I’ve got Opera Mini loaded up on both of my parents’ Nokia 6126′s, and also introduced several friends to the idea of how cool the mobile internet can be with Opera Mini on whatever phone they happen to be suffering with.
Of course, you can use Opera Mini on your S60-based handset, but I simply can’t see why anyone would want to replace the native browser with a java app. To each their own, I suppose. Here’s the download link.
