WHERE Location-Based App For S60v3
I found this in the Download! application about a month ago, and was going to do a writeup, but couldn’t for the life of me get the dern thing to recognize my N95’s internal GPS. I tried everything, up to and including running several GPS-based applications in the background, to make sure I actually had a lock (I did).
However, there’s a chance it might be updated now, so here’s the skinny. uLocate Communications has announced WHERE for S60 handsets. I first encountered WHERE when reviewing the Helio Mysto for MobileBurn.com, and it’s really a cool application. There are several tabs with things like close gas stations (with prices, where available), local events, and all range of other location-based services, all bundled into one application. This is seriously what I think we should be seeing more of, in terms of location-aware applications.
The good news, however is that they’ve smartly gotten their java application loaded into the Download! app on Nseries handsets, and even better, it’s logically in the ‘GPS/Location’ folder. Brilliant! The program is free and lets you customize it, choosing among 60+ different smaller applications. Check it out, and be sure to leave a comment if you’re able to get it to recognize your location.

Still wont recognize my location. Must be something wrong with the GPS portion.
The GPS on the N-series Nokia’s only works with the Nokia maps app. - All other 3rd party apps need an external GPS device…Thought this was general knowledge!!
@Jazzy Jeff - that’s false. I’ve used the GPS on my N95 with Nav4All, Google Maps, Garmin XT Mobile, and others. It’s simply a matter of the WHERE application either 1. not reading the GPS output or 2. not requesting access
I can’t see this in Download on my N95 in the UK. In fact I can’t see the folder you mentioned either.
