One of the Nokia applications that I go back and forth with is the Mobile Web Server. It’s been updated quite a bit, and I’m playing with it more and more, as I think there’s some serious potential here, though I can’t quite put my finger on it.
Antoine of the Mobile Ministry Magazine has also been tinkering with it, trying to see what happens when he tries to use it as his full-time web hosting solution. Antoine’s experiment is quite in-depth, and Jukka recently asked him to post a guest entry on the S60 blog for the Mobile Web Server. Here you can read all about Antoine’s exploits with his N75 and the Mobile Web Server.
Also, the Mobile Web Server team has put together a fun little Facebook application, which I’ve added to my Facebook page, to help you show off your mobile site and allow your Facebook friends to connect to you easily. It’s a simple widget that shows your current presence and also allows visitors a direct link to request a photo from your phone. If you’re rocking an S60-powered handset and haven’t checked out the Mobile Web Server, you should. It’s free to try, and there’s plenty of options for neat things you could do with it. I’m working on a piece looking at why the average consumer would care about the Mobile Web Server, as well, so keep an eye on Symbian-Guru.com for that soon.
