  • I know Online-Stores in Germany who want 649 Euro for it. But many Stores want to have more than 1.000 Euro. Prices over 1.000 Euro or US-Dollar are certainly pre-release prices.

A Guy from Nokia (Germany) told me September as release date.

i thought the n96 was going to ship with u.s 3g support? what happened ro will we in teh us get our own special flavor again?

why is it that sony ericsson has been able to include multiband 3g but nokia is still producing units specific to region?
  • @Jakob - I don't ever recall seeing anything that says the N96 would have US 3G.

I think DVB-H wont make it in Germany ... Too bad!

Usually US prices are right now way cheaper than EU prices. I can buy almost any Nokia now cheaper here in the US than in Finland.
  • Vinski-
My Nokia E90 was 800eur in last december, its over 1200usd :(
    Pretty normal price in Finland.
Its normal that many products, when announced in Europe after US, they just convert the prices 1/1 between $ and €, like xbox. 399usd vs. 399eur (620usd). Or actually, not even convert, just change the currency.
But that just goes over my head to think that Nokia ships "made in Finland" phones from here to another side of the world and price actually goes down.

doesnt the n96 with 1900 and 2100 bands support both us and european 3g?
  • Jakob
@ the guru, I seem to recall you posting an article earlier on about the launch of the n96 and n78. how they would launch worldwide at the same time and would come with the region specific 3g service.

that the u.s would receive a nam version of the phone with at&t 3g banding. at the same time that the euro version would drop.

sorry about my previous post that the n96 was supposed to come with both 3g frequencies on it. that was my fanboy sparking up.

"But that just goes over my head to think that Nokia ships “made in Finland” phones from here to another side of the world and price actually goes down"

    Answer:
Well, I always knew that in US phones will be a lot cheaper, you need to remember that Finland's market is 100 times smaller than US, so in Finland they sell for retail price, in US you can buy for wholesale price, well almost for wholesale, its because US phone distributors order 100,000's phones when Finland's distributor may only order 1000, so that makes a big difference in price!

Guys, we all making this crazy prices to go up. If we'd not buy the phones for more then $400 then it won't be such a prices as $800 and $1200 ! OK, nice toy coming out..but, JUST WAIT ! DON'T RUSH TO SPEND SO MUCH MONEY ON THE DAMN PHONE ! I understand, it's a cool toy and we all want to be the first, but it makes "them" keep such a high prices.. Think about it.
